Does text to flowchart use an AI API?

No. FlowSimp parses Mermaid flowchart syntax and indented outlines in your browser and lays the shapes out locally. There is no model call and no account.

What Mermaid syntax is supported?

flowchart or graph headers, TD and LR direction, rectangle [labels], diamonds {labels}, rounded (labels), circles ((labels)), and arrows written as A --> B. Edge labels are accepted and ignored for layout.

Can I edit the generated diagram?

Yes. Open in the editor loads a normal FlowSimp board. Share still creates a /view link, and the same text can be sent through the free MCP connector.

A single paste is capped at 16,000 characters and about 80 shapes so a link stays small enough to share.

Text to flowchart

Paste a short outline or a Mermaid flowchart and FlowSimp lays out the shapes for you. The diagram opens in the free editor, where you can move boxes, edit labels, and share a read-only link. Nothing is sent to a paid API.

Indented outlines work too

Skip Mermaid if you only have notes. Put one step on each line and indent child steps with two spaces. A line that ends with a question mark becomes a decision diamond. The flowchart maker uses the same shapes if you would rather draw by hand.

From a chatbot

ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor can call FlowSimp’s free MCP server at https://flowsimp.com/mcp. The create_flowchart tool accepts the same Mermaid text and returns a share link plus an editable link.
