Free Lucidchart alternative

    Last updated November 2, 2026

Lucidchart is a hosted diagram editor, and an account is required for most of what it does. FlowSimp is a browser flowchart maker and whiteboard that is completely free to use — no sign-up required. Use it when the job is a flowchart, a process map, or a pen sketch. Use Lucidchart when you need its documents, its wider shape set, or shared editing.

How does FlowSimp compare with Lucidchart?

The differences that stay still are the account, the file, and the size of the tool. FlowSimp opens in a tab. Guest drawings stay in the browser. Lucidchart keeps diagrams in an account. Paid plans exist on Lucidchart’s side; the current limits and prices belong on Lucidchart’s site, not here.

How do you switch a flowchart to FlowSimp?

    1. Write the steps down, or export them as text if Lucidchart gives you that. FlowSimp cannot open the Lucidchart file itself.
    2. Paste a Mermaid flowchart or an indented outline on text to flowchart. One step per line. A question mark becomes a diamond.
    3. Or open a starter and rename it. A handoff across teams is the swimlane template. A yes-or-no loop is the approval workflow.
    4. Export PNG or SVG, or copy a read-only share link. The picture has no watermark.

    What should you not expect?

Do not expect a Lucidchart import, live cursors, or Lucidchart’s shape libraries. FlowSimp’s flowchart toolbar is rectangle, rounded rectangle, diamond, and circle, plus arrows that stay attached when you move a shape. If the diagram needs a stencil FlowSimp does not have, keep it in Lucidchart. Related pages: free Visio alternative and free draw.io alternative.
